How to create categories and assign post to category in Wordpress

In WordPress category is organize your post. It can sort or group of content into different sections, A website can publish content on the variety of topics can be divided their website into sections using categories. For example – a new website for news creates under Breaking News, Weather, Sports, Opinion etc.

If you can not specify the category for the post then a post is automatically filed into the default category like ‘uncategorized’ .

Steps of see Existing Categories on Wordpress

• Go to post a link on dashboard into the left side, the popup appears then click on ‘categories’ in that menu.

• Categories page will be open and you can see all the existing categories from this page.

Steps of Adding  New Category into your website

• Click to all category page, after new category form will appear to fill all fields.

  

• Name – Enter the name of the new category.
• Slug – slug is URL text what you want to display in an address bar.
• Parent – This is the main category if you want to create child category under it.
• Description – in this field, you can write the description of the new category which you can create.

Step 2. After clicking all field you can see create the new category just like .

• Add post into category
• Click to post on the right sidebar.
• Click on the new post.
• Fill the new post from and select the desired category for those new create post into right sidebar below.

• Now click to publish
